The Greens have made dental health reform a top public health priority.
Phase one of Denticare is complete. As of 1 January 2014, thanks to the Greens, Denticare for Kids will be available as an entitlement for you to claim at your dentist. The entitlement is for up to $1000 in Medicare-funded public or private dental treatment.
Good oral health is important for everybody, but it is critically important for kids. Children aged 2-17 years in families that receive Family Tax Benefit A (approximately 3.4 million Australian kids) will be eligible to access the scheme.
The Greens have made dental health reform a top public health priority. The Greens negotiated the biggest dental health reform in Australia's history as part of our agreement with Labor to form government; the $5 billion Dental Health Reform Package.
Congratulations! We saved the Footscray Dental Clinics!
The government has announced a committment of $9.7 million for the Western Region Health Centre (WRHC) to build a new dental clinic.
The Footscray dental clinics provide emergency and general dental care to 10,000+ children and adults in the West each year. However, neglect from subsequent governments has left the clinic crumbling and calls for the clinic to be rebuilt have been ignored since 2007, until this community campaign win!
Many hundreds of people signed and sent postcards to the Premier, emailed the Premier from my website, and spread the word on social media. This campaign has shown that the community are prepared to take action to protect their community health care services, and can win!
